Angioedema Cure: Allergic Condition Cure

When searching for an angioedema cure it is of help to first identify angioedema. This is a medical condition that is frequently caused by allergies, but that can also be hereditary or as a side effect of drugs. For example, ACE inhibitors can frequently cause angioedema as a side effect in certain individuals.

Angioedema is a disease of the skin. The medical condition is characterized by patches of swelling on both the skin and its subcutaneous layers. These patches are allergy triggered. Sometimes it can also include the mucous membranes/the viscera. The edema that is associated with the angioedema medical condition is rapid in most cases. Many see it as very similar to urticaria (more commonly known as hives). Urticaria only touches the upper dermis in comparison to the more extensive angioedema.

During rapid onset of the condition...the swelling can result in an emergency. Rapid swelling related to angioedema can result in airway obstruction and/or suffocation in these emergency situations. In cases of allergic angioedema, epinephrine should be used to provide emergency relief from swelling. This is not an angioedema cure. It is an emergency response that should result in immediate relief that, in some cases, can be lifesaving.

Sometimes the swelling happens in minutes...sometimes hours. It is usually found in the facial area. It can be both painful and itchy.  

A decrease in sensation can sometimes happen in areas of extreme swelling. This is a result of the compression of nerves in the affected areas. Urticaria can also sometimes happen in affected areas. In allergic trigger triggered cases of angioedema the allergic trigger should be found as quickly as possible.  

In some cases of allergic angioedema the allergen is frequently easily identified. But in other cases the allergen is unidentifiable and remains unknown.

When searching for an angioedema cure it is important 1st to consider the exact diagnosis. Emergency methods can be taken in cases of allergic angioedema, but for long term relief the allergen needs to be identified and avoided. For cases of angioedema that are drug induced...the angioedema cure is to cease using the drug and find alternate treatment.

Hereditary angioedema cure depends on immediate treatment to alleviate symptoms (swelling can be life threatening). Angioedema cures vary from case to case. But some angiodema cures are: long-term prophylaxis, Short-term prophylaxis, and new treatment options still being tested (Ecallantide, icatibant, recombinant C1 inhibitor, Cinryze, etc.)
